“The sound is ethereal doom/drone/ambient sonic vastness with beautiful hooks.” - Cosmic Hears
The cult 2009 demo from Portland, Oregon’s psychedelic “doomgazers”, Megaton Leviathan, is now available on 12” LP vinyl format. Remastered by Carl Saff specifically for vinyl, this pressing is limited to 500 copies. Praise and admiration for this demo, by those fortunate enough to have obtained the ultra-limited CD-R version.
The 2009 demo lifts off with raw and heavy, celestial riffing then sets adrift on experimental Kosmiche Psyche and finally lands on Shoegaze, post-Punk Doompop dream, all in the span of 35 minutes. Solidly fulfilling its purpose to introduce the band, this demo also serves to lay the foundation for Megaton Leviathan’s sound and future releases.
In support of the 2009 demo LP release, Megaton Leviathan will embark on an East Coast tour supporting Southern Lord recording artists, Wolves in the Throne Room. The tour, commencing on September 14, 2011 and culminating on September 28, 2011, will hit such
markets as Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, Tampa, and Austin. Well known for their high-energy and over-the-top live performances, Megaton Leviathan anticipates gaining new audiences with their unique sound and stunning visual presentation.
never been a big death metal fan but this is actually super accessible for the genre, has fun concepts, and personally i'm always a fan of albums with short tracklists and huge runtimes (for individual songs) Great time, good jumping on point for newbies too. alienasu
Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once..... grote_smurf
